5 Self-Care Tips for Busy Moms

Updated: Jun 13, 2020

When you are a mom it is very hard to find the time to take care of yourself. Most of the times we are busy full filling our kids and husbands emotional and physical needs, while also working on our careers.

That’s why I created 5 fun and easy self-care Tips for you from my own experience!

1. Create Time For Yourself

Get up earlier then everyone else and creates a what I call sanity ritual (even if it is just 15 minutes)

My Sanity Ritual:

  • I get up between 15 min - 1 hr. then the rest of my family.

  • I take a shower while the coffee is brewing and take a couple of mindful breath.

  • In my head, I say thank you for whatever I am grateful for, example: my health, my family, for the city I am living in, for the food…start simple)

  • After the shower spoil yourself with a calming body lotion like lavender or if you are tired something more uplifting like orange oil

  • I enjoy my coffee while reading a magazine or book and get mentally ready for the upcoming day while telling myself no matter how the day goes, that I have the choice of how I react.

2. Accept Help

I am a perfectionist myself, but the best advice my mom gave me was to accept help from others.

Although no one else will be able to live up to our expectations :), I do have to say it is nice to accept help. Let go and tell your partner, grandparents and another caretaker that they are doing a good job with your kid(s) and use the time to get a mani/pedi, take a walk in nature or meet your girlfriends for a cup of coffee.

3. Create a Workout Routine

When my daughter was a baby and I had no one to take care of her, I was simply doing short workout videos in my living room.

If you are too busy, start doing squads while brushing your teeth and start parking the car a bit further away so you will walk the extra couple of blocks. As moms we know how to multitask and workout should be one of your higher priorities. Ask another mom to watch your kid one day so you can workout and the next day you take over.

3. GNO - Girls Night Out or IN

Make it a priority to go out with your girlfriends at least once a month. Don't forget to glam up! Put your high heels on and step out of the mom role, feeling sexy is the key to a healthy relationship with yourself. If no one is available to watch the kids, have a girls night in, but even here, ask everyone to glam up, have a nice dinner and delicious wine and find other fun topics to talk about besides the family or watch a fun chick flick.

4. Who has time to read once the baby is there, right?

I miss reading books and because I never have time to sit down and read since my girl is born, I started to listen to audio books or books on Spotify. You can even listen while doing the household or put it on while you are driving in the car.

5. Book a Massage at Least Once Every 3 Months

No money? Start putting $10 each week into a MAMA needs Love Piggy Bank once the third month comes around you have that money to get spoiled

enjoy spoiling yourself without the guilt, we need to make ourselves priorities not only to stay patient, loving and kind to our families but also because we like to set good examples for our kids. They copy what they learn and self-care has to be also their priority. Maybe then the adulthood doesn't seem as rough once they grow up :)

Alright busy moms, what tip will you make your priority today?

Enjoy, have fun and remember to value yourself as much as you value your family and career
